Communities across Australia have the chance to see Skywhale take flight with Patricia Piccinini’s latest addition to the family, Skywhalepapa, during a national tour of these iconic works from the national collection.
After launching in Canberra in 2021, the hot air balloon duo take a family trip across the country, visiting most states and territories for the Skywhales Across Australia touring exhibition.
Temora is thrilled to be collaborating with the National Gallery of Australia and Patricia Piccinini to bring Skywhales to Temora.
The adventure begins early morning on Saturday, 16th May, as the Skywhales slowly come to life over the Temora horizon. Join Patricia Piccinini as she gets up close with the crowds, embracing the excitement and wonder of this unforgettable event.
With themed music playing in the background, watch these magical creatures inflate, rise, and take flight.
Keep fueled with breakfast bacon and egg rolls and coffee van on hand, as the experience concludes around 7am.
Special Events for Kids & Families:
At 11am, Patricia will read from her beloved Skywhales children’s book, Every Heart Sings, at the Town Library. Perfect for children aged 4–8.
Before the reading, children can enjoy a Skywhales-inspired art experience at the library, getting creative and inspired before the main event.
Artist Talk for Art Enthusiasts (16+):
Later in the afternoon, Patricia will give an intimate artist talk at the Town Hall Theatre, sharing her creative process and the story behind Skywhales. Tickets are limited—book early to secure your spot! Tickets here.
This is a magical, multi-experience day for all ages—celebrating imagination, creativity, and the wonder of Skywhales in Temora.
